So for my birthday, I decided to do EDM# 243: Draw a pillow
This was an exercise in patience- the patience necessary to do it in coloured pencil... the patience necessary to get over the fact that the kids messed up the model TWICE (:-o) and the patience to get over the fact I don't have access to odourless mineral spirits to help blend. And alcohol and acetone do not work. Luckily I tried those on the first drawing which was the first messed up model ;)
Now if only I was allowed to take advantage of said pillow for my birthday ;)
Beautiful texture! :) I like the colors too, oh yeah... HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I got a pillow for Christmas 2 years ago, absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I hope you had a chance to use that pillow, instead of just drawing it!
ReplyDeleteAre those plain colored pencils or watercolor pencils? I'm guessing regular because of the trouble you say you had with blending...
Peace and Laughter and Birthday Hugs!

Excellent pillow drawing! Hope your birthday was a happy one ~ Deb
ReplyDeleteAlex- Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cristina- not really, at least, not for napping :) Prismacolor Premier pencils- I'm still learning the art of blending ;)
Thanks Deb, it was a very nice day :)
Happy Birthday! I agree with Alex - the texture is wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to you, and your depiction of the pillow is great! Texture, folds, .... you certainly got it! nancy
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! Wonderful pillow!
ReplyDeleteI know that prismacolor pencils have a blending pencil. Does that work? Or do the mineral spirits do a little extra something?
Thank you Nancy and Raena :)
ReplyDeleteRaena, the mineral spirits give it a paint like look- I used the blender some, but I am just beginning to learn with these :)
How did I miss you birthday?! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautifully drawn. I happen to like the texture without blending. You can use a soft brush to blend colored pencil. I also know of an artist the has been using oil, like baby oil. I'd be careful of it staining the paper though.
Thanks Ann :) It's easy to miss a day ;)
