Here is the front. With a 22*F windchill I am shivering! My hair is up in a snood I made because I got tired of it blowing in my face the FIRST time I tried to get photos.
Those are my wearable muslin version of the trouser pattern I will be making next. As you see- another blue piece of clothing :)
The trousers are actually very slimming. You can see here from the most unflattering side view, how my mother physique is rendered less apple-like ;) The wind is blowing, so things are not exactly placed as I prefer!
At this point I am too cold to really care!
I tried a new technique I read about yesterday, in the newest issue of Threads Magazine. Covered snap fasteners. And a locking stitch to sew them in place. I haven't had a chance to really see how well it will hole up though.
I managed to find the perfect buttons first try! These orange buttons matched the fabric scrap I took with me, and I knew they were winners! I was also fairly pleased with the way the bow turned out, although it took a few tries.
Here you can see it in my instagram photo - NOT set in place though.
Very nice! And I like your snood! Can't wait to see the finished trousers. :)

Thank you. I crocheted the snoods from a free pattern online :)
DeleteLove the fabric! :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the sewing,
Sarah
Thank you :)
DeleteI love the blouse. The bow is so cute! I haven't been brave enough to try trousers yet. I've made everything else but the fitting issues with pants put me off. Yours look great though!
ReplyDeleteThank you Stephanie :) These trousers were pretty much as the pattern came, I just lengthened them in the crotch and leg, as I recall. They need to be lengthened just slightly more, but I like the fit OK lol I was worried I might have other issues, but no... this pattern eliminated a lot of the issues more modern trouser patterns have :)
DeleteBoth just look fantastic! I love the little touches on the blouse, and the blouse looks so nice with the trousers. I feel your pain on photos in the cold, ugh!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get a subscription to Threads already, people keep referring to articles that make me think "gosh I wish I had that". :)
Thank you Tasha... I really do love the blouse. Somehow, when you get those little touches to look just right it make you feel good to wear the things you make :)
DeleteThe weather is not as cold as some places, but I have been spoiled with a fairly warm winter. It was in the 60*F range on Friday, so to dip down and then suffer the winds was hard ;)
As for Threads, I just bought the latest issue after Liz mentioned it, and there are some great articles in it. I shall definitely be looking at a subscription- a print one, since it comes with the digital issues for free as well!
What a fabulous outfit! The detailed shots of the blouse are quite lovely. What luck finding the perfect buttons to match.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annabelle, it was definitely a stroke of luck :)
DeleteHi sweet Rachel, I am absolutely smitten with every element of this wonderful trouser, snood and blouse outfit. It's so fresh, springy, and beautiful. Stellar job on the blouse - the bow at the neck couldn't possibly be any cuter!

Thank you Jessica :) I truly do love the bow. I'm not sure why, it was just something about it! It was so windy that day, that the snood was just the thing to keep my hair in place- and that was fun to try :)
DeleteWow what quick work and what a great outfit! I love the fabric you have chosen for your blouse its really pretty and looks wonderful with your trousers (such a great pattern) I can't wait to see your finished look! xx
